first half of Pineapple Express was about half as good as Knocked Up; the second half was almost as bad as Freddy God Fingered

I agree that your expectation has to be very low if not none to appreciate the movie. It will certainly not remain in your memory for years to come. I generally rate a movie 3 on 5 when it is an OK movie. So for me Pineapple Express is just a bit above that, probably 3.2, but I stick 0.5 scaling in my rating. I also saw Knocked Up, and I think I less appreciate it than this one.
